This personal project was created for a brief by Adrian Hogan exploring reportage illustration and visual journaling, inviting us to capture scenes from our neighborhood drawn from life.
As I set out to sketch in Berlin, the rain redirected my plans—and my thoughts. Sitting indoors, I returned instead to memory: a late summer evening in Porto Recanati, on the Italian coast, where vivid colours, quiet elegance, and the dialogue between old and new architecture left a lasting impression.
Neighborhood Notes became an exploration of how drawing from memory can be as immediate as sketching from life—an intimate visual recollection imagined as a cover or full-page illustration for a lifestyle and travel magazine.
