These illustrations were created reinterpreting a real brief for the Issue #74 of The Reader Magazine interiors as a visual narrative exploring both physical spaces and emotional states — home, privacy, and belonging. The cover depicts a warm, inviting interior scene anchored by the quiet act of reading. A subtle glimpse of the outside world suggests evening light and seasonal transition, reinforcing the tension between inner life and outer reality.
The composition was designed with editorial awareness: structured negative space for masthead placement and adaptability to print constraints, including color behavior on uncoated stock.

The three accompanying spot illustrations expand the theme through intimate human interactions. Each piece was conceived as modular and flexible — scalable, adaptable to different layouts, and designed on transparent backgrounds to allow varied color applications. Diversity and inclusivity were central to the visual development. The characters represent a range of ages, skin tones, cultural identities, and physical abilities, reflecting reading as a shared, cross-generational experience.
